Vjay for iPhone App Review

Vjay for iPhone App Review

By now you will know all too well that the App Store is flooded with endless photo editing applications and they never seem to end. With so many of them clogging up the spotlight, it is all too easy to forget that the iPhone can also be used for editing videos too and there are some decent apps available for achieving this. A particularly good one on the iPad was vjay and now it has been reworked into a version compatible with the iPhone so if you want to create video mashups on the move, look no further. vjay is available now from the App Store for just $0.99 so get it now before the introductory price rises.

vjay is an app that deals primarily with mixing videos together to create a mashup. It does this by playing two clips simultaneously and allowing you to alternate between them as they play. The app automatically records whatever is on the screen so you are effectively editing live, although you can always go back and try again if you don’t like the results. In addition to this you can also take a section of the video and loop it, as well as even changing the colours and sound of the clips in question. While you can just wing it all, there is also the option to set up cue points so you can make your clips synchronise together more seamlessly.

There is a multitude of options to aid your creation and it may take some time to get your head around them all but intuitive controls mean this won’t take long and you will appreciate the freedom the app gives you. The layout is very clear and even though the app has had to be scaled down visually to fit on the iPhone’s screen, all the features are present and correct and nothing is lost in translation, but some careful reformatting means it all fits in comfortably.

There is no limit to what clips you can use, provided you can get them on your phone. The app comes with music videos and other clips for you to work with but you can also import anything else from your camera roll and even buy new clips from iTunes from within the app. The only limit is your imagination. The app is incredibly satisfying to use and more often than not you will create something to be proud of. It is easy to get used to the process and there are all kinds of transitions and effects that you can add, as well as the option to play a soundtrack over it. When it is finished you can share it easily to YouTube and Facebook and show off your masterwork.

This is a great little app that gives you a lot to do. The different features are easy to use and there is a lot of fun to be had creating a new, unique video clip. Any wannabe directors should check this one out.
