Edit: After half day, my wife’s Mac started having the same problem. I have then applied the solution that I found in the Apple
Using Mail Rules with MobileMe
Apple are currently offering users a beta of their new MobileMe service and one of the improvements includes a feature I have been harping on about for a few years (read here) mail rules. Mail rules are simple, a set of criteria applied to your email before it ever hits your inbox.
If you use Apple Mail.app chances are you have a few mail rules in place within the app to filter unwanted email or to move mailing list messages to particular folders. The problem with Mail.app mail rules is they don’t apply when you are using the web interface or your iPhone/iPad.
Server Sided Mail Rules mean you can create criteria that are applied as soon as the message arrives in the MobileMe inbox and thus applied before the email gets to your Mail.app or iPhone view.
Setting up Mail Rules
Log in to your MobileMe account and click on the mail icon. On the top right of your screen you will see a small gear icon. Click this to set up rules.
In the current offering you have three rule options. Move to a folder, Move to trash or forward the message to another email address. Select the rule you want to create.
You can filter messages on the TO, emails that are CCed to someone else, and messages that contain a particular subject.
Rules are applied in order and as you create more you might want to re-order the rules as appropriate.
This is still a beta so there is no way of predicting what the final version will be like but we would love to see the ability to sync rules with Mail.app and the ability to exclude on partial addresses. So far so good, it is great to see Mail Rules in MobileMe !
The new features make MobileMe a very attractive solution given the additional services it offers for iPhone and iPad users.
