Upcoming Event – Apps World 2013
On the 22nd and 23rd of October we will be attending AppsWorld in London, reporting news from Keynote Speakers Wozniak, Hawkins and new attender Brent Hoberman. Other keynotes include Grant Allen of Google and Jean-Noel Penichon of McDonalds, followed by workshops and panels available to developers, entrepreneurs and investors. Some of the key components of the event are listed below:
Apple Co-Founder, Steve Wozniak will be addressing developers in the Developer World Workshops on the 23rd talking about the Apple Story, Entrepreneurship, innovation and creativity. His focus has shifted from the business of Apple to ventures into education, pushing future business minds and challenging the next creative generation.
Trip Hawkins, founder of EA (Electronic Arts) and an early pioneer of Apple will also be speaking in the Gaming World Workshop on the 22nd. He will be opening Apps World with talks on his story and business ventures. As well as answering questions, Hawkins will be launching his latest project to challenge that of Digital Chocolate, his development company that racked in 200 million app downloads in the App stores early days.
A late entry to the keynote has been Brent Hoberman, the founder of British lastminute.com who have recently taken over holiday booking in the electronic world. Last Minute provide cheap bookings of hotels and flights all around the world, however, as the name suggests, you get the remaining rooms and seats on a special deal. With 1.65 million viewers per week, Hoberman knows a thing or two about launching a successful business in the digital world. He will be discussing the process of getting investors interested in your ideas on the 22nd.
Additionally, The Appster awards will be announced after the event which consists of 13 awards to high flyers and sharp shooters in the app development community. Presented by Mock the Week comedian Simon Evans with Judges from Tesco’s Mobile Experience Director, Aviva Technology Innovation manager and Technology Officer at Coca-Cola the event will be a buzzing atmosphere of investors, developers and community leaders set in Kensington Roof Gardens. Awards include Best App Developer, Best Start-up app, Best Entertainment App and the crown of the night, the Appster Champion award. Developers of Alien vs Predator (2010 best selling game), Rebellion, are set to win the Indie Game development award and the BBC are competing for best TV app award against ESPN. BBC won the award last year for best entertainment with there Olympics app and hope to gain a second award on the night.
