Tweetie 2 for iPhone Released
Yesterday saw the release of Tweetie 2 on the iTunes Apps store. It didn’t take long for the ‘tweetie 2′ hash tag to make its way to the number one spot. Controversially for some users Tweetie 2 was a paid upgrade for all (just under ?2).
Personally speaking I am happy to pay and at times am stunned that so many upgrades are free, that said I do know of a number of users who are unhappy they had to pay for the upgrade.
Tweetie 2 offers an upgrades user interface over the original Tweetie application with some nice new features into the bargain. My particular favourite is the ability to locate Twitter users in your area.
The radar system is brilliant and can be dragged around the Google map check out the samples below. From rich text editing, the ability to create iPhone contacts direct from tweets right through to live filtering and saved searches Tweetie 2 appears to have covered all angles.
The interface is really easy to use and I love the way Tweetie 2 loads new tweets on to the timeline. The mobile application allows the ability to tweet all the usual, text, photos but new to the camp is the ability to tweet video (if you have the iPhone 3gs).
I have to admit I was expecting push notifications with this version after reading an error in an early preview review. To date simpletweet still holds the number one slot for a push enabled Twitter app.
Tweetie 2 is available now from the iTunes Apps Store (iTunes Link).
If you have been using tweetie 2 I would love to know what you think of the latest release. Has Tweetie 2 become your number 1 twitter client ?
