The GoSkyWatch application lets you easily and quickly locate stars and many other objects in the night sky.
The app can be used for fun or it can be used to aid the amateur or professional astronomer in various ways that the would require.
The app is powerful and easy to use, featuring a wide zoom range, touch free identification popping up on the screen as you move about the night sky and a full 180 degree display so you don’t have to pan around to find a certain object that your looking for.
The app features pop up images and loads of detailed information on hundreds of thousands of object in the night sky, extending way out into the know universe.
The app features a gyroscope compass that is automatically calibrated and uses an advanced algorithm for smooth and accurate positioning .
You can clearly see the planets over the stars, the planets track in the sky and the sun and the moon. The app also features the ability to see what is below the horizon at the current time of star-gazing.
You can adjust the brightness of the application, as well as red light mode for night mode and even tells you exactly how far away the object you are looking at is from your current position.
No internet is required to use this application, however a connection is recommended for auto location, viewing detailed information on objects and the StarTales part of the app.
It is currently compatible with iPad and requires iOS 4.3 or greater to run. The app comes in quite a few different languages including English, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese and Spanish.
Overall this app is great for those young astronomers who are just starting to get into the world of astronomy. The app would also make a great addition to schools which currently use iPads in their lessons and even the professional astronomer may find uses for this app in their daily work.
