Edit: After half day, my wife’s Mac started having the same problem. I have then applied the solution that I found in the Apple
SimplyTweet offers Push
I now have more Twitter apps on my iPhone than games or productivity tools. This weeks sees the release of the twitter app with native push notifications. SimplyTweet for iPhone offers push notification support for new Direct Messages and Mentions showing in the application badge.
SimplyTweet 2.3, the iPhone Twitter Application enhances existing support for video uploading to include TwitVid. SimplyTweet combines a fast, simple user interface and a rich set of features. It supports some interesting features including photo search, and picture posting to sites including TwitPic and Posterous.
Personally I have been a massive fan on tweetie on the iPhone since it was released but SimplyTweet offers some really nice features with quite a slick interface. Push notification seems reliable and the application offers the ability to customise the sound options for Push Active / Inactive.
One really nice feature is the fact that as you scroll down your list of tweets, mentions and direct messages the read count automatically adjusts.
SimplyTweet is the first iPhone application I have come across that offers in app support in the form of “Ask @simplytweet” a setting listing where you can ask the developer directly (in the form of an @ reply) about the application.
The application is very useful to see if people you follow are following you or if you want to quickly follow someone who gives you a mention.
Click on a name or avatar to display the complete profile of the user. Name, Avatar, Following stats, (see 2) the latest tweets and whether or not they actually follow you. You can follow (or unfollow) the user directly from this screen (See 1).
The application is feature packed but it also appears faster than other Twitter applications I have used and in some ways makes managing your Twitter account that bit easier.
The ‘Search’ feature is nicely implemented with the ability to refine searches within distances, 1,2,5,10 and 50Km ranges. Trends, Notes and the ability to search photos make SimplyTweet a favourite.
Even without Push SimplyTweet is brilliant mobile Twitter client. With regards to push I have found a bit of a delay in notifications but they do tend to arrive within minutes of the direct or @reply arriving.
At ?2.99 from the Apple iTunes store (iTunes link)I am pretty excited about this mobile Twitter client. I would love to hear what others think ? Remember you can follow @totalapps on any twitter application.
