Orange Announce iPhone Plans
Any hope that competition in the UK iPhone market was about to drive down the cost of ownership was well and truly quashed this morning with the announcement of the long awaited Orange iPhone pricing plans.
O2 have been offering the iPhone exclusively since 2007 and many users felt being locked to one provider meant they were not necessarily getting the best deal.
The news that Orange would be offering the iPhone during November was very positively received by the industry but as you can see from the 18 month contract comparison below there really isn’t anything between the two providers when it comes down to the cost of ownership.
18 Month Contract Comparison
Orange are offering new / low users a slightly better deal The opening (?29.38) tariff with Orange offers double the text messages and minutes as well as a two pence per month saving (we are celebrating the double texts not the 2p).
Unlimited Internet Access?
Orange have taken the bold step of informing users of their fair usage policy for unlimited internet (:Fair Usage policy of 750MB / month applies.)
The iPhone will be available on Orange from 10th November 2009 but I suspect we won’t see a mad rush of O2 customers moving to Orange when their contracts come to a close next January.
