Edit: After half day, my wife’s Mac started having the same problem. I have then applied the solution that I found in the Apple
iPartition to Solve your Mac Partitions Problems
iPartition is the right app for people who want to create, resize, clone, move, or delete their Mac partitions.
Mac users might know, the Disk Utility of OS X has some basic partitioning features. But the resizing abilities weren’t really strong. Since it is not a full fledged partitioning app, something else was required.
iPartition is an app made by Coriolis Systems, and it works on Mac. It lets you alter your hard drive’s partitions without the need of reformatting. For example, if you want to divide the hard drive into some partitions, you can do it using iPartition.
There are many times when one partition is full while the other is lying empty. The solution to this scenario is to resize the partition. You just have to select the external drive from a list, and a pie chart will show you the layout of the disk.
Begin with selecting the storage partition, and you will see the outer ring. With the pie chart, you can see the amount of used and free spaces. There you can see a resize handle. You can drag it to change the size of the partition. Now click on Go and let iPartition work.
Wrap it up
Mac users generally want to work on their partitions. They didn’t have the right tools to do it, until now. But iPartition cannot change the internal drive of Mac system while it is booted into OS X. You will have to make a bootable DVD by selecting iPartition from menu bar. From there you can select the right option. Give iPartition exclusive access to the drive so that any possible conflicts can be avoided. Even if something goes wrong, iPartition can recover your disk.
With features like these, iPartition deserves its price tag. Have you ever felt the need to resize your partitions? If yes, the iPartition can help you do so. If you have used iPartition, then write to us and let us know about the other features it offers.
