iPad Mini 2 With Retina Display Currently In Prototype

Apple Fan Site has today learned that the rumoured 2nd generation iPad mini with retina display is currently in prototype and is still in development as Apple have hit a problem with the battery and can not be resolved yet due to technological limitations.

Rumours at the beginning of this year suggested we would see the iPad mini 2 launched in April along side the iPad 5 we have heard that is not the case due to Apple suffering with battery issues on the iPad mini 2. Minutes after Apple announced the iPad mini people were already wanting a retina version and a lot of people are still holding out, it has always been a question if Apple could / would put a retina display panel in the iPad mini due to the effect on their margins but it appears that isn’t the problem this time around.

Obviously adding a retina display would have a huge affect on the battery life of the iPad mini which is currently advertised as 10 hours so this would require a new bigger capacity battery and this is what our source said is the only problem stopping Apple from releasing a retina version of the iPad mini 2 at the moment due to them not being able to get a battery which is the right size and also has a big enough capacity.

Our source did not have no information on pricing or release dates but did say the iPad mini 2 will be more like an ‘s’ generation update in the iPhone product line as Apple’s main focus on this device is to get a retina display with a good enough battery life.
