Everything Everywhere announces 4G Speeds to Double in UK

One of the UK’s largest Mobile Phone Networks, Everything Everywhere, has announced that it is to double the speed of its 4G internet service in the UK.

New speeds will reach up to 20mbps when the service launches across 10 UK cities later in the month.

The first cities to receive the upgraded service first are: Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester and Sheffield and Everything Everywhere claims that some users could see speeds of up to 80mpbs if all goes well.

The company, which is currently trying to reach a target of 1 million 4G customers by the end of 2013 and is currently the only company to offer the service, has said that the faster speeds will not increase the price of the existing service.

Another Network called “3” is set to launch its own 4G service in the UK later this year and unlike Everything Everywhere, they are expected to offer the 4G service for the same price as its current 3G services.

Other providers which are also considering launching the service are Telefonica 02, Vodafone and a division of BT called Niche Spectrum.
