Tweaking Dock Menu – If you want to augment your expediency while navigating on your Dock, just follow the steps. But before anything else, you need to backup first your Mac so that no harm done particularly on your files.

  • Go to Macintosh HD.
  • Open folder System.
  • Click Library.
  • Select CoreServices.
  • Search for Dock and do a Control-Click on it.
  • Select Show Package Contents.
  • Click Resources and select English.lproj.
  • Copy DockMenus.strings to your Desktop. You need to delete the original DockMenus.strings inside English.lproj
  • Open copied DockMenus.strings. Search for EMPTY_TRASH = “Empty Trash”; and replace the whole line with EMPTY_TRASH = “Remove Junk”; You can also search for QUIT = “Quit”; and change it to QUIT = “Quit %@”;
  • Save the file DockMenus.strings and move it back to English.lproj folder
  • Restart your Dock with command line killall Dock.
  • Split your Dock with Spacer – If there are times that you want to categorize your dock, you want to place blank space in between applications. To do the tweak,
  • Open your Terminal.
  • Enter the command: defaults write com.apple.dock persistent-apps -array-add ‘{“tile-type”=”spacer-tile”;}’
  • Repeat as many as you want to create several spaces.
  • You will then have to restart your Dock with killall Dock.
  • You can drag the spacers. You may even remove it.
