Back To School With Apple And Sales Tax Holiday's

Apple has launched an updated information page on its website along with a corresponding email with details on how consumers can take advantage of back to school savings.

The idea behind this years mega savings announcement is a push for tax free back to school savings on both Mac’s and iOS devices beginning next month.

During the up-coming promotional period, which is set to vary on a state-by-state bases, Apple will automatically be lowering the sales tax charges made both in-stores and online.

Some of the products benefiting from the sales cuts include, iPhones, iPads and Macs with the tax holidays occurring in the following states:

  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Louisiana
  • Massachusetts
  • Missouri
  • New Mexico
  • South Carolina
  • Tennessee

Most accessories for the Back To School tax free devices will also benefit from the promotion including both mice and keyboards when purchased alongside a computer, with Applecare and educational software included in the bundles.

It should be noted that most states place a cap on the portion of each purchase that is exempt from sales tax — the limit is set at $750 in Alabama and Florida, $1,000 in Georgia and New Mexico, $1,500 in Tennessee, $2,500 in Massachusetts, and $3,500 in Missouri. There is no such cap in South Carolina.

he sales tax holiday period runs from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3 in every state but Georgia — where it ends on Aug. 2 — and Massachusetts, where it has yet to be set by the legislature for 2014
