Audssey Audio Dock Air Review
We have had the the Audssey Audio Dock Air for a good few months now which has allowed me to make sure I have put it through it through quiet a lot of tests. This is the second Dock Air we had received as our first one had some problems but we can asure you that the quality of Audssey’s customer services was amazing and with in a week of reporting the problem we had got a brand new one shipped to us which was in full working condition.
The setup is the worst this about the product and I could easily see a non tech savvy customer struggling setting up the Airplay feature. Even though the setup up is well documented from Audssey I still found myself having to try and set it up multiple times before I got it working but once you have got it set up your are set to go forever.
The sound quality on this dock is mind blowing for the price and size. At low levels the speaker still pumps out and amazing amount of deep bass and that only gets better the more you turn up the volume when you cross a certain point you will start to notice that the sound does become a little compressed but its barely noticeable. One thing I did notice is there is a little change in the sound when you plug your device in via the aux input.
Airplay is the biggest feature of this device and my experience with it has been exceptional. I have experienced no stuttering which I have experienced on other Airplay devices and also the delay is not to bad with it being between 3-5 seconds and only becomes a problem when watching video and playing audio through the dock. It is worth noting this I am running this through BT Infinity which pulls in download speeds of around 35Mbps and upload of 4Mbps and I have not had any problems even when using Skype video calling along side Airplay.
“The sound quality on this dock is mind blowing for the price and size”
All Airplay docks on the market give the impression that Apple gives manufactures a set of design guidelines as the all appear to look very similar and fit in well with Apples product line up. The Audssey Dock Air does not have many buttons which makes it a lot simpler to operate , it does include a volume control which also automatically adjusts the volume on your iOS device. The audio dock does appear to attract dust and the felt on the sides of the dock which cover the drivers is very hard to clean. A nice feature which a lot of other docks do not include is the ability to update the firmware over USB.
It is fair to say this is one of the best if not the best Airplay dock for this price range and all of the problems I bumped in to along the way it no fault of Audssey or the product its self but is Airplay i tested it with my iMac and my iPhone and the problems were with the apps crashing or just dropping the connection with the dock but this was a rear occurrence and I would still recommend the Audssey Dock Air and you can pick it up from Amazon for around ?253 with free shipping
