Apple's iPhone 5 Is Not Selling Resulting In Apple Cutting Orders

A weaker than expected demand is the reasoning the Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple has has slashed component orders for example Apple cut their iPhone 5 display orders by around 50% in January.

This is not the only report of component orders being cut many other analysts have also reported the same story but is their reasoning correct maybe Apple is getting ready for to show off an hardware update to the iPhone?

Apple’s orders for screens for the January-March quarter, for example, have dropped to roughly half of what it had previously planned to order, two of the people said. The U.S. company has also cut orders for components other than screens, according to one of the people.

The iPhone 5 was announced in September 2012 and initial demand for the phone exceeded Apple’s supply capabilities selling 2 million in the first 24 hours of preordering.
