Apple to Become the World’s Top Pc Vendor

It is expected that Apple will become the leading manufacturer of operating systems in the world, overtaking the title from HP by the second half of the upcoming year. This prediction has been made by an expert analyst who is also a predictor that Apple’s iPad 3 can turn out to be the key to the Apple’s climb on the top most position of the global operating systems rankings.

Apple has viewed its market share of PC’s growing from 9 percent to 15 percent in only four quarters, though the shipments of iPads in the company’s core market area – United States – is likely to come below pressure in the fourth quarter mainly because of the launching of Kindle Fire and Nook that have been launched in the market with extremely competitive pricing strategy.

It is also expected that HP and apple will be fighting for the top most position in the fourth quarter although, Apple might have to wait to obtain the position until the release of the iPad 3 so as to surpass HP.

Earlier this month, the global PC market for the third quarter of 2011 was released, according to which Apple secured a safe second position having a 15 percent share of the total market share and HP having a slight movement ahead by 16 percent share of the total market.

According to reports, the growth of the global PC market for Apple, Inc. can be mainly attributed to the upcoming iPad product and also it has been estimated that the total sales of operating systems for the ongoing year will touch the point of 415 million which is an increase of 15 percent year-on-year.

On the other hand, the competitors of Apple in the industry have been struggling to compete with Apple products profitably- however, the release of the Android 4.0 has been able to somewhat level up the playing field to some extent.

However, for rivals of Apple in other markets, the outlook does not seem to be quite rosy. The form factor o ultrabook, which was considered by many people as a rival to the Apple’s product line of MacBook Air, might not gain some traction within the market unless the pricing factor is reconsidered. It is said that in order to wide spread the Ultrabooks within the market, the manufacturers should have to reduce pricing levels to a considerable level.

For Ultrabooks, the least expensive models are currently priced around US$800 which is considered as the big hurdle to the massive consumer intake.  As more and more PC vendors are embracing the designing factor of Ultrabooks, the cost associated with components should be dropped considerably so as to achieve consumer market share for it.

Although, the flooding issue in Thailand can cause a bit difficulty to the vendors of Ultrabooks, as it caused some serious disruptions in the production of the hard drives which could also result in a situation that the SSD’s production is ramped up resulting in lower prices.

On the other hand, the sales of notebooks seem healthy for now having an anticipated total shipment of 211 million which is a 10 percent year-on-year increase.
