Apple offers refund to iPad 3 customers amid Court Fine

Apple have offered their iPad 3 Australian customers a refund after the company suffered 2 unrelated legal defeats in court.

The cases which saw Apple fined a total of ?1.46m by an Australian court after advertising  that the iPad 3’s 4g was compatible with the Telstra LTE mobile data network in Australia, when in fact, it was not.

Apple have now promised to e-mail all its Australian Customers saying  “the iPad 3 is not compatible with current Australian 4G LTE networks and WiMAX networks”

In a similar case, a Dutch company sued apple over a patent violation in the Netherlands,  a court the Hague ruled Apple had violated a Samsung patent used in some of Apple’s phones and tablets to connect to the Internet, leaving Apple faced with damages in the Million’s.

It would be of interest to note however that Samsung is still a key components supplier to Apple.

Lets just say that the relationship “is complicated”
