The talks have included health providers at Mount Sinai, the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins as well as with Allscripts, a competitor to electronic health records provider Epic Systems.

Its understood that Apple is working to create a service that makes health statistics like Blood Pressure, weight and pulse, accessible to all members of the public at any given time and in any place.

Currently, this data is being collected by thousands of third-party health care software applications and medical devices, but it isn’t centrally stored.  Apple hopes that one day this can be used by physicians to greatly improve the care they give to their patients.

Apple have not given any details on how or when this service will be finished, however it is expected to go into the new iPhone 6 come September.
