Apple Executives Think The Kindle Fire Will Do Apple Good

In the meeting between Apple’s CEO Tim Cook , Peter Oppenheimer and Barclays analyst Ben Reitzes it seems that Tim Cook said that he thinks the newly introduced Kindle Fire will be a good thing for Apple as it introduces another level of fragmentation to the android platform. This is a quote from the meeting :

While the pricing at $199 looks disruptive for what seems to be the iPad’s most important rising challenge, the Amazon Fire – it is important to note that it could fuel further fragmentation in the tablet market—given it represents yet another platform. While compatible with Android, the Apps work with Amazon products. The more fragmentation, the better, says Apple, since that could drive more consumers to the stable Apple platform. We believe that Apple will get more aggressive on price with the iPad eventually but not compromise the product quality and experience.

The android platform  which runs on the amazon kindle which will find some apps look out of place and also a lot of apps not available on the kindle its self. If the kindle is a big hit and a lot are sold you can expect a lot more developers to start developing for the customised android platform

One point that does set the Kindle Fire away from the iPad is the price the Kindle fire under cuts the iPad which could be a buying point for some. When its released thats when the “What can the iPad do that the Kindle Fire can not”.
