Apple CEO Tim Cook Reveals Plans To Manufacture Mac's In The US

Apple CEO Tim Cook has today announced plans to build 1 line of new mac’s exclusively in the United States next year. He made the comments during an exclusive interview with Brian William’s that is due to air tonight at 10pm/9c on NBC’s ”Rock Center”.

There is still no clear indication which line of Mac’s will be produced in the US as apple, as usual, kept that part of the announcement secret.

“ We’ve been working for years on doing more and more in the United States,” Cook told Williams

The announcement comes roughly a week after recent rumors sparked by iMacs inscribed with ”Made in the USA”

The announcement may prove good news for the US economy which currently has an unemployment rate of 8% and has been loosing a lot of its good paying factory jobs to workers in China.

Cook Continued, “When you back up and look at Apple’s effect on job creation in the United States, we estimate that we’ve created more than 600,000 jobs now,” and he was possibly relating to creations of jobs in Apples Data Centers and Numerous Apple Stores.

There has also been a lot of heat for apple with the recent suicides at some of its Foxconn factories, with workers claiming to be underpaid, working excessive long hours, and unacceptable working conditions. Apples response to the crisis was to hire the non profit fair labor association to examine the working conditions at the Foxconn plants which build such products as the iPhone and iPad lines.

During the Interview he spoke a little about Steve Jobs saying “I loved Steve dearly, and miss him dearly,” Cook told Williams. “And one of the things he did for me, that removed a gigantic burden that would have normally existed, is he told me, on a couple of occasions before he passed away, to never question what he would have done. Never ask the question, ‘What Steve would do,’ to just do what’s right.” and the company itself is, today, worth about half as much again from when Cook took over.

So with the year coming to an end and Apple looking to boost its sales at christmas, did Tim Cook leave us with a possible “new device” in the near future?

“When I go into my living room and turn on the TV, I feel like I have gone backwards in time by 20 to 30 years,” Cook told Williams.

“It’s an area of intense interest. I can’t say more than that.”

The Full Interview with NBC’s Brian William’s will air tonight, December 6th at 10PM/9C on “Rock Center”.
