Apple announce $10 Billion App Store Sales Last Year

Apple have today announced that they have sold over $10 Billion worth of applications on the App Store in 2013 and paid out $15 BN to developers overall.

With Apple never attending CES there is always something hiding up their sleeve to take the limelight off the show, however this year they have decided to boast about their improved marketing sales on the App Store and how much they have paid out to their developers since the dev program started.

Christmas alone saw almost 3 Billion apps downloaded from the App Store which currently makes December 2013 the most successful for The App Store to date.

Overall in 2013, Apple sold over $10 Billion worth off apps and this included over $1 Billion on digital goods in e month of December alone.

Another reason for the announcement is that Apple want to be seen as keeping the market share while Android dominates device shipments with Forecast firm Garter announcing that over half the share of PC, tablet and mobile devices going to Android in 2014, with developers much preferring iOS to Android.

Apple also announced that the App Store now has more an 1 Million apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch which can be accessed in over 155 countries globally and this includes over 500,000 native iPad applications.
