A job for everyone: Mac

A job for everyone: Mac

When you look at some companies you can tell what kind of employees they’re looking for. Some companies scream suit and ties, others emphasise teaching, and others yet ooze honour and trust. It can be hard for first time job seekers, people leaving college, and for people who are looking to change their career to find the type of role that will suit them. Some of you reading this may have found the dream role but in a company that doesn’t suit you. It’s a good thing you’re reading this, then, because here you will learn about the company that is right for you: Apple.

Apple is a very diverse and rich breeding ground for all types of people looking for all types of work. Whether you have no experience, Uni experience, or 12 years experience you will find a job that suits you on some branch of the Apple tree.

If you are new to the world of work then most likely you are in high school or college and want to make some extra cash between study and socialising. For you, a job at an Apple store could be the perfect fit. The Apple retail store is the first port of call for many people who are interested in or thinking about buying a computer, but it is also a lot more than that. It’s where people take their machines or devices that aren’t working right, and it’s also where people come to learn more about Apple and computing in general. Apple stores aren’t just hiring door greeters and bag checkers; they are looking for real people who have real experience to bring to the table. Let’s say you are in high school and are looking for some money so you can buy that new guitar you’ve been eying off for a while now. You might think that putting down the hours spent in your basement writing songs and playing music will be a turn off on a resume, but not when you’re applying to Apple. They are looking for people just like you who can teach others how to integrate their music with their machine. At Apple, telling the interviewer that you love to make music, movies, or website will only be a tick in your favour. Apple stores are practically made for students because of the flexible hours and the up-to-date technology.

Of course, looking for a job is different than looking for a career. A part time or weekend job is fine for earning money but when you’re in college you need to start looking at internships and apprenticeships to build your resume and experiences rather than building your bank account. Apple runs these, too, and in all sectors of the company. Looking at Apple you would first think about the computing side which can be disconcerting if that’s not what you’re studying. But Apple is a large corporation and they need more than just tech heads to make their money. The Apple marketing department is among the biggest in the world, and the HR team is scouring the world for the best and brightest. Apple is also looking for writers to help make their manuals easy to understand as well as accountants to balance the books and business leaders to help all of this point in the same direction. Apple internships and graduate programs are run in every stream of this diverse company and in most offices around the world. Look online or ask your guidance counsellor about finding a role that will suit you and your degree. You might be able to find one that will count towards your grades.

Apple isn’t just about employing the ‘new’ or the ‘young’, they also need experienced staff to help run the stores as well as the company. Step into a managerial role at an Apple retail store by using your years of past experience, no knowledge of Apple required! Look online for openings or add your e-mail to the alert list and be notified of when a position opens up. Apple is always looking for team leaders and exceptional managers so it won’t be long before you’re resume is called to action. Apple corporate is also looking for high end staff to make the move. Many people make the move to Apple because they aren’t appreciated at their company or don’t fit into the culture.

No matter what stage of life you’re in you will find work at Apple.
