  1. Quitting Programs / Apps – In windows you close a program by clicking the red “X” in the top right hand corner but if you click the red “X” which is placed in the top left hand corner on a Mac you are only closing a program not quitting it. To quit a program / App on a Mac you can use cmd and Q
  2. Keyboard Shortcut Keys – You will be surprised how much you use keyboard short cuts for saving , copying and also pasting in Windows it was Ctrl-S to save but on a Mac you basically replace the Ctrl with the cmd which sometimes will be shown on your keyboard as a clover style image
  3. Maximising Windows – In windows you could click the blue square to maximise your program in OS X click the + sign in the top left corner and it will increase the program to the optimal size for the content. There is also two arrows in the top right hand corner which makes Apps full screen
  4. System Preferences – In windows you most likely found yourself trying to fix something in the control panel. In OS X the equivalent to the control panel is System preferences which can be accessed via the small Apple logo in the top left hand corner of the screen
  5. The Dock – You might have noticed their is no start menu in Mac OS X you are left to use the simpler slicker dock which is placed at the bottom of the screen
